Material Application Guide

Rubber & Tyre Waste Processing

Define the rubber article, casing geometry, steel or textile reinforcement and receiver route before equipment review. Whole tyres, clean production rubber and contaminated or fire-damaged material do not share an automatic processing route.

Define the Tyre or Rubber Article

Document construction and condition before choosing a reduction route.

Passenger, truck, off-road and solid tyres can differ in size, mass, bead, belt and textile construction. Production offcuts, conveyor belting, hoses and moulded rubber introduce other geometries and formulations. Keep these streams identifiable.

The receiver must define the accepted prepared form and allowable free steel, textile, dirt and other residues. Fire-damaged material, chemical or oil contamination, unknown industrial rubber and assemblies retaining rims or pressure require a separate hold and determination.

Rubber Streams

Separate whole tyres, known offcuts and excluded material.

Stream control should preserve construction, contamination and origin information until a receiver-approved route is assigned.

R-01

End-of-Life Tyres and Casings

Whole casings require size, type, rim, pressure, bead, belt and textile information before handling or reduction review.

  • Sort oversize and non-standard casings
  • Keep collection and ownership records
R-02

Known Production Rubber

Traceable trim and moulding rejects may form a controlled lot when formulation, reinforcement and contamination remain defined.

  • Record compound and process origin
  • Separate cured, uncured and composite material
R-03

Composite or Excluded Rubber

Belting, hose, bonded parts, unknown rubber, fire-damaged tyres and chemically contaminated material need a separate acceptance decision.

  • Identify steel, textile and rigid inserts
  • Quarantine hazardous or unknown residues

Preparation Sequence

Establish the exclusion and reinforcement plan before feeding.

Preparation should stop unsuitable assemblies and preserve the evidence needed to manage steel, textile and residual fractions.

  1. 01

    Inspect and Sort

Record article type, dimensions, condition, rims, visible liquids, contamination and fire damage at reception.

  2. 02

    Make the Assembly Safe

Handle pressure, rims and mounted assemblies only through the approved competent procedure before processing review.

  3. 03

    Define Reinforcement Handling

Set acceptance and downstream routes for bead wire, steel belt, textile fibre and other embedded components.

  4. 04

    Confirm Output Acceptance

Agree prepared size, exposed or liberated reinforcement limits, cleanliness, storage and rejection rules with the receiver.

Equipment Review

Match the reduction stages to the verified article and receiver target.

A tyre or rubber label does not prove equipment suitability. Maximum geometry, reinforcement, foreign items, heat, wear, target form and downstream separation require project-specific review.

Primary Size Reduction

Industrial shredding may be reviewed for an approved rubber or tyre duty with controlled feed and a defined first-stage output.

  • Verified maximum article geometry
  • Known reinforcement and foreign-item basis
  • Defined discharge and fire controls
Review Industrial Shredders

Coordinated Material Separation

A wider system review may be needed where staged reduction, steel and textile separation, screening and residue handling are connected.

  • Receiver-defined material fractions
  • Mapped transfer and separation stages
  • Defined dust, fire and rejection interfaces
Review Recycling Systems

Suitability, capacity, reduction stages, reinforcement separation and output quality require project- and model-specific confirmation.

Recovered Output

Define rubber, steel, textile and reject fractions separately.

A nominal chip or granule description is incomplete without size distribution, exposed or free reinforcement, fines, dirt, moisture and sampling rules. The receiver decides which measurements control acceptance.

Track recovered steel, textile-rich residue, fines and rejected articles alongside the rubber fraction. Do not describe every separated fraction as a marketable output until a receiving route and quality rule are confirmed.

Site Interfaces

Connect reception, fire control, reduction and fraction storage.

The layout should limit uncontrolled tyre accumulation and provide controlled transfer, inspection, cleaning and emergency access.

01

Reception and Quarantine

Provide inspection and isolation areas for mounted, contaminated, fire-damaged, oversize or unknown articles.

02

Storage and Fire Control

Define inventory limits, pile arrangement, separation, detection, emergency access and site-specific fire response.

03

Feed and Separation

Coordinate loading, guarding, metal and textile handling, dust control, blockage response and service isolation.

04

Fraction Dispatch

Keep rubber outputs, recovered metal, textile-rich material, fines and rejects identified and physically separate.

Safety Boundary

Control pressure, rebound, sharp reinforcement, heat and tyre-fire exposure.

The installed work system requires its own material determination, fire strategy, risk assessment, safeguarding and operating instructions.

  • Exclude Mounted Or Pressurised Assemblies
  • Quarantine Fire-Damaged Or Contaminated Material
  • Control Sharp Steel And Stored Shape Energy
  • Manage Heat, Dust And Ignition Sources
  • Isolate Energy Before Clearing Blockages

Application Questions

Rubber & Tyre Processing FAQs

Can all end-of-life tyres be processed together?

Do not assume they can. Dimensions, casing type, rims, reinforcement, contamination, fire history and receiver rules can require separate lots or exclusion.

Why must reinforcement be specified?

Steel bead and belt components, textile reinforcement and rigid inserts affect feed, wear, downstream separation and output acceptance. Record their form and the receiver’s residual limits.

Can fire-damaged tyres enter the normal route?

Not without a separate determination. Fire damage can change condition and introduce residues; isolate the material and follow the applicable site and receiving procedure.

What should a tyre-processing enquiry include?

Provide article types, dimensions, weights where known, rims and pressure status, reinforcement, contamination, storage inventory, normal and peak arrivals, target fractions, receiver rules, utilities and layout.
