Project Requirements

Project Planning Checklist

Build a project brief that engineering can evaluate.

A structured brief reduces assumptions and makes technical discussions more efficient. Record confirmed inputs and mark estimates, unknowns and preferences explicitly.

What to include

Provide as much detail as is available. Clear inputs help engineering compare options accurately and identify the questions that remain open.

  • Material

Type, form, composition, moisture, contamination and variability.

  • Required Output

Target product, shape, size, density, quality or specification.

  • Operating Pattern

Capacity, shifts, annual hours, peak loads and average loads.

  • Site & Interfaces

Space, layout, foundations, utilities, access, climate and connections.

  • Constraints & Notes

Budget range, milestones, standards, preferences and important notes.

Project Planning Process

  1. Collect Information

Gather available data, documents, photos, drawings and site information.

    Preparation
  2. Complete the Checklist

Complete each section; mark values as confirmed, estimated or unknown.

    Preparation
  3. Submit for Review

Send the completed brief to engineering for an initial review.

    Initial Review
  4. Technical Discussion

Clarify assumptions, details and the project objectives.

    By Appointment
  5. Solution Proposal

Review equipment options, layouts and technical recommendations.

    Project-Specific
  6. Project Roadmap

Define next steps, responsibilities, interfaces and execution.
